Best and worst of the Milan Fashion Week #mfw
The Milan Fashion Week is about to end. It’s been a week of exciting news for the fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals who spent their time running from the many venues that hosted the main events of the Milan Fashion Week. More than a hundred fashion shows have taken the entire city and showed to the world how the spring and summer seasons will look like. Here is what we liked and what we didn’t of this past few days.
Best: Jennifer Lopez and the Versace jungle dress
Jennifer Lopez has made the history of fashion again. She closed the Versace fashion show wearing a new versione of the jungle dress she wore at the Grammy Awards on the 23rd of February 2000. That dress was so popular that Google decided to create its application “Google Image”.
Worst: Gucci and the “mental illness” affair
Gucci is in the middle of media storm again. After the turtleneck that resembled blackface images shown in February last year, this time Alessandro Michele, creative director of Gucci, faced a backlash because of the questionable choice to have his models walking on the catwalk wearing a suit inspired by those worn by the inmates of mental illness facilities. A model named Ayesha Tan Jones wrote on her hands “mental illness is not fashion”.
Best: the Vogue Japan party
The nipponic edition of the bible of fashion decide to celebrate its 20th birthday during the Milan Fashion Week. The party hostess was Anna dello Russo, the fashion icon who has worked for year at Vogue Japan.
Worst: the Dolce&Gabbana fans
Apparently it was just too much! The people who saw the guests of the Dolce & Gabbana fashion show lining up in front of the Metropol theatre were unhappy with their exaggerated style. And they complaint on social media about it!
