Wes Anderson Asteroid City: the plot

The storyline of the movie involves a group of young professionals in the space industry which find themselves in the middle of an unknown desert in America. Some of them bring their relatives and friends to this little town called “Asteroid City” when a close encounter with an actual alien disrupts their existences. Put on a strict quarantene by the military the people involved in this unfortunate accident find themselves wondering about the meaning of their lives once learned that they are not alone in the universe.

Bar Luce by Wes Anderson

Wes Anderson Asteroid City is not the very first collaboration of the iconic American director with Fondazione Prada. The bar at the musum called Bar Luce was born from Anderson’s mind upon request of Mrs Prada herself back in 2015. The desing of the Bar Luce is clearly inspired by two gems of Italian Cinema: Miracle in Milan (Miracolo a Milano, 1951) by Vittorio De Sica and Rocco and His Brothers (Rocco e i suoi fratelli, 1960) by Luchino Visconti.

“The architectural and decorative elements of Bar Luce are reminiscent of Italian popular culture and aesthetics from the 1950s and 1960s echoing artistic decisions Anderson made for his short film Castello Cavalcanti produced by Prada in 2013”
