It’s official! The best skyscraper of the world is in Milan. The Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat in Chicago has elected the “Bosco Verticale(vertical wood/forest)” as the most beautiful skyscraper built in 2015. The building was designed by Milanese architect Stefano Boeri who has recently declared through twitter “I am happy for Milan, I am happy for Italy, I am happy for our architecture”. The Bosco Verticale is actually composed by two different buildings of 111 and 78 meters. The two massive residential skyscrapers feature almost a thousand trees and plants spread throughout their entire height. The construction begun at the end of 2009 and it was officially opened in 2014.
Just a few months after the inauguration the Bosco Verticale won the International Highrise Award, another important acknowledgment of the architecture and design industry. Milan has been going under important renovation in the last few years. The EXPO 2015 gave a relevant contribution to the development of new infrastructures such as the new underground line, the new terminal at the Milan Malpensa airport and the whole Porta Nuova district, where the Bosco Verticale is.

It is now clear how the interest of the international community has grown around the city of Milan. These new buildings along with art, fashion and food culture will be the city’s main attractions in the upcoming years and their international acknowledgement will attract more and more visitors.
