The devil’s column On the left side of the main entrance to the basilica of Saint Ambrogio there is a white marble column with two holes. The legend says that those two holes were left by satan’s horns when he got stuck into the column while fighting with Saint Ambrogio. According to this legend, the patron saint of the city was taking a walk in the yard of the basilica when he met satan who tried to seduce him into temptation. Saint Ambrogio kicked him away and the devil got stuck in the white marble leaving those marks. The two holes…
