The darsena is the heart of the navigli district in Milan. The word darsena literally translates into dock or shipyard and since the beginning of the 17th century this has been the role of this little harbour in the South West side of Milan. The antiques market in Milan takes place every last Sunday of each month in the Navigli district. The hundreds of sellers display their merchandise and items along the Navigli canals from via Gorizia to the bridge of via Valenza. The nearly 400 exhibitors of the antiques market are carefully selected by the Associazione Naviglio Grande which manages all of the initiatives taking place along the canals.
