Pitti Uomo: discovering Florence between a fashion show and a party
The 93rd edition of Pitti Uomo, the event dedicated to men’s fashion in Florence from 12 to 15 June, brings its participants to the discovery of the Tuscan capital.
During the event, thanks to the collaboration between the municipality of Florence and Pitti Immagine, it will be possible to discover the less known places along the Arno river.
Secret Florence, this is the name of the project created in partnership with Pitti Uomo, will bring buyers, international visitors and fashion journalists to know those corners of the city generally not included in the organized tours of millions of foreign tourists who visit Florence every year.
In this context, an experimental music session finds its ideal location in the planetarium while the cloister of the Convento del Carmine will host the duo composed by pianist Simone Graziano and the Irish cellist Naomi Berrill.
Classical and contemporary music is accompanied by the art of Jean-Michel Basquiat. The cinema The Compagnia, one of the most appreciated examples of contemporary architecture in Florence, hosts an exhibition dedicated to the disciple of Andy Warhol. Two different films tell about his adolescence and artistic career thirty years after his death: “Dowtown 81” played by Basquiat himself and “Boom for Real: The Late Teenage Years of Jean-Michel Basquiat” premiered in Italy on the occasion of this event.
Pitti Uomo, in progress at the Fortezza da Basso, is part of this innovative artistic project in the context of tourist promotion of the destination through a tool such as Secret Florence which, now in its third edition, promises to combine the artistic heritage of the Renaissance cradle with the more modern artistic and cultural forms.
