The design week is now on in Milan and the whole city is fully packed with people from the five continents.
From the 4th to the 9th of April 2017 the Salone del Mobile ( the furniture tradeshow) takes place at the Fiera Milano facilities.
More than 2000 exhibitors form 165 countries and an expected attendance of 300.000 people. These are the numbers of the 56th edition of the most prestigious design event.
The official opening of the design week will see the participation of the President of the Italian Republic Sergio Mattarella who will be speaking at the inauguration on the morning of the 4th of April.
If at the tradeshow facilities designers, architects and visitors will have the chance of networking opportunities on the more than 200.000 square meters of exhibition space, the city will be the main stage of more than 1.500 events of the design week.
Events. meetings and products presentations will be taking place in the 11 design districts of the city: Brera, Tortona, Porta Venezia, San Babila, Statale, Lambrate, Centrale, Sant’Ambrogio, Bovisa, Cadorna and Isola.
This what they call the “FuoriSalone”: a long list of side events that promise to entertain the general public and to turn the city of Milan into a huge design hub.
The design week has also a relevant impact on the economic development of the city. It generates almost 230 millions of income for hotels, restaurants and shops and the most of the money is spent by international tourists and visitors.
This edition of the design week is setting new records in terms of participation of young talents which will be awarded during special events to take place at the Fabbrica del Vapore.
