Pitti Uomo is now officially open in Florence. From Tuesday the 9th of January to Friday the 12th plenty of designers and fashion houses will showcase the latest trends of men’s fashion.
Pitti Uomo is now at its 93rd edition and promises to be the best show ever. Pitti Uomo takes place at Fortezza da Basso, the convention centre of the city of Florence, just a few steps from the Santa Maria Novella train station.
On the official website Pitti Uomo is described as
“This is the world’s most important platform for men’s clothing and accessory collections and for launching new projects in men’s fashion”.
The list of exhibitors demonstrates how truly global this event is. The Barbour leather accessories from the UK will share the exhibiton floor with shirts and raincoats by Camoshita United Arrows from Japan. The high end cashemere apparel by Brunello Cucinelli will draw the attention of those going to see the last collections of signature backpacks by Herschel from Canada.
Among the several sections of the 93rd edition of Pitti Uomo, the one that deserves a deepening is for sure the MAKE section.
“The section that promotes the rediscovery of artisanal working techniques. Strategically showcased in the Sala della Ronda with a new set design, a new generation of craftspeople from around the world will present specially made pieces with contemporary appeal”.
This is actually what Italian fashion is all about. The use of raw materials and their transformation into exceptional artworks to wear. The artisanal capability, the tradition and the stories behind it are projected into the future of men’s clothing thanks to the talent of young designers and entrpreneurs.
If you happen to be in Florence and you wish to extend your visit to Italy a bit longer, catch the high speed train and in less than a hour and a half you will be in Milan, right in time for 2018 Milan Men Fashion Week.
