Jared Leto, the Academy Award winner actor and musician, co-founder with the brother Shannon of the alternative rock band Thirty Seconds to Mars, will be playing the role of Morbius the living vampire in the upcoming movie of the Spiderman saga.
This next movie will be the seventh that features the superhero created by Stan Lee back in 1962 for Marvel Comics.
Opposite to the actors who have played the Spiderman (Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland) we have seen a long list of villains.
From James Franco playing Harry Osborn, the son of super-villain Norman Osborn aka the Green Goblin played by Willem Defoe to Alfred Molina as the very bad Doctor Octopus.
Thoper Grace was Venom in Spider Man 3 while the British actor Rhys Ifans played the Lizard in the first movie of the Andrew’s Garfiled era.
Most recently Tom Holland as the Spiderman had to fight against the evil plans of Vulture, one of the worst antihero we have seen on screen played by the Michael Keaton.
The long list of bad guys that need to fight with the Spiderman would not be complete without Morbius the living vampire.
Jared Leto has just been cast as this European scientist who, while in the process of healing himself from a deadly disease, ends up with vampire-like traits (long teeth, fangs…the whole package!) and of course a thing for human blood.
This is not the first time that Jared Leto plays a villain created by the Marvel family. He was acclaimed by both the general audience and the critics for his performance as the Joker in Suicide Squad directed by David Ayer.
This new role as Morbius had some people to wonder whether Jared Leto will be back as the nemesis of Batman or if he will stick to the blood-drinker guy for his future in the movie industry.
